Ugly truth 1: Matlow Has Lost His Conscience
Jeremy Matlow, the owner of Gaines Street Pies and a sitting City Commissioner, plans and directs coordinated social media attacks on local business owners who do not align with his neo-Socialist/Anarchist political agenda. In this case, he is using Will Crowley as a tool to achieve this goal.
Regardless of policy choices or personal opinions, no one should target businesses that employ hundreds of local residents and provide them with income, all for political gain. Soon, I will write a separate article (maybe a book) detailing my journey in developing SoMo Walls. For now, I'll continue to push back on this coordinated cyberbullying and inform you about the harsh realities happening behind the scenes.
Crowley's comment, directed by either Ryan Ray (Chairmain of Leon County Democratic Party) or Jeremy Matlow, obviously upset me mostly because I'm accustomed to being targeted for standing against their extreme local political agenda - however, this time, they are targeting businesses that have no connection to me other than leasing space at SoMo Walls. The tactic is clear: discourage tenants from moving to SoMo—an area that desperately needs new businesses to flourish. So I sent the following text to Jeremy Matlow and Ryan Ray.
Jeremy and I both run Political Action Committees (PAC) , and over the next four weeks, potentially until November, we will continue battling to win votes for the candidates we support in local elections. On the other hand, Ryan Ray uses the local Democratic Party as his personal PAC, and attacks candidates (including democrats) that are challanging his ex-girlfriend (Jack Porter).
In other words, we are on opposing sides. My comment, "this will get very ugly, very quickly," referred to the political back-and-forth that will ensue. Nothing personal or physical—Jeremy and Ryan are well aware of that. However, their cult following? I'm not sure if they are capable of seeing the flip side of the coin.
Ugly truth 2: Crowley is a problemetic choice for Matlow and Ryan Ray
Will Crowley, a self-proclaimed Communist Justice Warrior, is also known as a sexual predator within Tallahassee's political circles. During the 2022 elections, an individual came forward whom appeared to be one of Crowley’s victims, posted on Instagram, urging her friends not to support Crowley's bid for County Commission. Notably, rather than rejecting the claims outright, Crowley who was endorsed by Debbie Lightsey, attempted to calm her down and brush the issue aside.
Will Crowley, who frequents Gaines Street Pies and Warhorse (both owned by Jeremy Matlow), will be banned from SoMo Walls. I will investigate whether Crowley’s victim filed a complaint. If not, I will explore legal options to ensure this individual does not repeat these actions.
Ugly truth 3: Crowley works for the Porter Campaign, is a Member of Leon DEMs Exec Committee.
Jack Porter, who will attempt to persuade voters this cycle with phrases like "Women Empowerment", "Patriarchy", and "Challenges for Women in Male-Dominated Workplaces" is directly working with Crowley to canvass homes. Is she aware of Crowley’s history? We need to find out. However, don’t be surprised if she does nothing about it. This wouldn’t be the first time Porter has chosen to side with "male-dominated world" over successful women who supported her in the past. For instance, when her campaign accountant, Shelby Green, ran for City Commission, she chose to support Adner Marcelin against Ms. Green. Similarly, when Dominique Zumbo, another 2020 Porter campaign coordinator, ran for County Commission, Porter backed Josh Johnson in the same race against Ms. Zumbo.
Crowley also serves as Treasurer on the local Democratic Party Executive Committee alongside Ryan Ray, Matlow's Aide. Their close coordination was evident during the City of Tallahassee Charter Review Committee meetings.
Ugly truth 4: Crowley's Employer, FDOT needs to take action
It is my understanding that Will Crowley works for the Florida Department of Transportation. If this is the case, this is a significant issue for the department. In addition to employing a potential sexual predator in the workplace, the timestamps of Will Crowley’s social media rants and attacks coincide with his 9-to-5 hours at the Florida Department of Transportation, where he is funded by Florida taxpayers. In other words, we are paying this individual $87,755.72 per year to target business owners, local residents, the Mayor, City Commissioners, and political candidates who oppose his personal political views within our community. I'm calling FDOT to take action immidiately and discharge this person from the Department.
Gloves Off: Next up, Ryan Ray.
For many months, I have remained silent and taken the high road while these individuals fabricated stories about me and my businesses for political gain. My office was broken into, my properties were vandalized, and my family has been distressed. The gloves are off now. I am fighting back. In the next four weeks, I will expose—backed by facts and evidence, as I have done in this article—who these people and their affiliates really are. Next up is Ryan Ray, Jeremy Matlow’s aide, who manages fake Twitter accounts and orchestrates these social media campaigns, all while earning a $75,000 salary from local taxpayers. Stay tuned.
